natural • practical • species-appropriate: Rodipet®

natural

A loving pet owner's care and feeding will not conflict with their pet's inherent needs. Instead, they will be in accord with the conditions of the animal's natural habitat.

True to the motto "Living and Eating like they would in the Wild", at Rodipet® you will find a range of foods and supplies tailored exactly to the needs and inspired by the Terra typica of each species. For more information, please visit: rodenti-forschung.de

practical

Additional benefits are considered and chosen carefully to promote a healthy and stressfree rodent life. Examples of this include houses whose roofs can be removed to check on nests without disturbing their inmates, rodent wheels that move easier thanks to quality ball bearings and accessories made from easy-clean ceramics.

Whether you are looking for appropriate bedding, practical water bottle systems, intelligently thought-out care products or versatile dwellings, at Rodipet® you will find the right product for it.

species-appropriate

Spherical sleeping burrows, clever multi room houses and subterranean rodent domiciles cater to the various needs caused by different species' individual natural behaviours and activity habits.

To promote your pet's physical and mental fitness, at Rodipet® you can find absolutely safe, high quality rodent wheels of various sizes as well as clever ideas and products to furnish your rodent's habitat. These are made from wood, cork, ceramics and other natural materials and will help you turn it into a fun playground for your pet.

A long, varied and healthy life for your favourite

We specialise in supplies for small mammals that are appropriate for the individual species.

Our work comprises not only constantly searching for appropriate food stuffs and habitat furnishings. Above all else, we develop and manufacture pet supplies that take into account specific species' natural behaviours and matches them as closely as possible.

To carry the Rodipet® brand name, which all products we develop do, our products have to undergo and pass a phase of rigorous testing before going on sale. They also have to fulfill several standards. These are examples of those criteria:

  • no safety risks
  • no health risks
  • animal wellfare guidelines are being kept
  • encourage natural behaviour
  • food must be high quality and without additives

Urge to explore: a great love for small creatures ©rodipet.de

"Better to have seen once than to have heard a thousand times!"

So a Mongolian proverb says. Nature demonstrates to us how animals can act out their natural behaviours and fulfill their needs. To us, this opens up a wealth of ideas for products.

Our four pillars of species-appropriate animal care

Four factors are essential to keeping animals in a manner appropriate to their species:

Suitable accommodation, care and a heathy and balanced diet as well as surroundings that challenge the animals mentally so as to prevent "cage boredom".

The foundation of product development is to investigate a species' natural habitat in the wild. While studying the Terra typica, food stuffs and housing can be planned and designed even more appropriately to the species.

How do small mammals live in the wild, and what are their geographic ranges like?

These are the questions we actively investigate when on our expeditions. There is a long tradition of small mammals being kept under human care. But information concerning the natural geographic range, the so called Terra typica is not always sufficient to make a definitive statement about the natural behaviour and diet of certain species. We have made it our goal to fill these knowledge gaps with well founded findings. Our areas of expertise are:

AE 1: Expeditions
How do hamsters, lemmings, gerbils and other small mammals live in the wild, and what are their geographic ranges like?

AE 2: Diet
What is the natural diet of hamsters, lemmings and mice in the wild?

AE 3: Pet care
How can the findings obtained in the wild be used for the good of domesticated species?
